I’m April, a nurse for over 20 years, with 10 of those spent as a certified wound care nurse. I’m still a full-time nurse today, but I found my creative outlet (and a little sanity) in mixing chemistry, skincare, and a whole lot of heart. That’s what sparked my passion for crafting luxurious, skin-loving bath and body products that make people feel good.

What started as a stress-relief hobby turned into Backyard Bougie — a mix of down-home grit and bougie flair. Every item is handcrafted with care and premium ingredients, from soaps, lotions, and candles to home décor, personalized gifts, and natural cleaning products.

We’re all about taking the best of nature, a bit of science, and a dash of sass to create products that bring comfort, laughter, and a little everyday luxury.
